Description

1965 ThunderBird Roadster

65 T-Bird Convertible/Roadster,31,788 mi./Show Quality!

1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible/Roadster

"All you need is a flight plan!"

In 1965 the Thunderbirds had no drastic styling changes from the 1964 models, which of course did have major styling changes from the previous 1961, 1962 and 1963 model runs. However, it did have some significant and noteworthy differences from the 64's.

*Front wheel vented disc brakes from Kelsey-Hayes with four piston calipers delivered a vast improvement in braking performance. It was the same as used in the much heavier Lincoln Continental except the Bird did not use a front wheel pressure-limiting valve. Ford stated that "deceleration rates and stopping distances were nothing short of phenominal for a 5000-lb car!"

*Air vents (dummy) appeared on both sides of the car, just behind the front wheel openings.

*Doors could now be locked without a key and the key would enter the locks with either side up.

*A fasten seat belt light would now go off when the driver's belt was latched.

*Sequential tail lights were added...a really neat feature!

*A new engine mounting system was utilized and a new "thin shell" bucket seat was introduced which proved to be a real improvement in seating comfort, especially on long trips.

*The sports option fiberglass tonneau cover was no longer available from the factory but was available directly from the selling dealer. (This car has theis Roadster Tonneau cover...my Son says the car looks like the "Batmobile" with the cover in place.

This car is finished in gorgeous Black lacquer paint...it is magnificent.

The clock doesn't work. (it's right twice a day!)

The top and rear window are new and in perfect condition as is the beautiful red interior. This color combination is simply "drop-dead gorgeous!" The body is very straight and the paint is terrific.

All of the Power Windows work perfectly (I just went throught them all) as does the Electric Power seat.

All the gauges work perfectly and all the dash lights and courtesy lights work as well.

This was the 1st year for the sequential taillights....WOW...are they neat to watch in action!!!!

This car has been a Florida car for most of it's life and has under 32,000 miles. We believe the mileage to be accurate...the car certainly looks and drives like a 32,000 mile car.

I am having the correct valve covers and air-cleaner chromed and they will be installed on the car prior to shipment.

It is equipped as follows:

390CID V-8 (300HP) (original engine)

Automatic transmission

Power Brakes & Power steering

Factory Air-conditioning

Power windows

Custom Thunderbird Floor Mats (front & rear)

AM/FM/8-track stereo tape player (original from the factory)

Power antenna

Variable speed windshield wipers. (just fixed to work properly)

Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels

Remote control mirror

Note:everything is in excellent working condition.

This is a beautiful car and it drives like it looks....fantastic. This is a no disappointment rare vintage car.Only 6,846 were produced but only a handful exist in this condition. The two things one can never purchase on a collector car are originality and mileage...this car has both!

We will entertain the possibility of accepting a car (or cars) in trade. However, we would not be interested in any vehicles that need to be restored or cars that are kits, reproductions, or clones. I can be e-mailed at:Marvin

I can be reached at 1 (954) 895-7940, or, if you prefer, e-mail me your phone number and the best time to reach you and I'll be only to happy to return your call.

I have been at this hobby of vintage car collecting since I was a kid, too many years to mention here (LOL) so if you have a question, or questions, I can't answer, I'll try and find the information your seeking.

We at Cars of Yesterday are always seeking fine vintage cars and if you have something that you wish to offer for sale, please e-mail me pics and a complete description.

Also, if you simply have a question...or questions, on a car you have in your collection, drop me an e-mail and I'll try and help you.

Finally, if your seeking a particular Make & Model Car, also drop me an e-mail on what your seeking and there is a fairly good chance I can steer you in the right direction.

After 40+ years at this, I have contacts worldwide with some serious and well-known collectors. I have personally purchased, and, or sold cars to Jerry J. Moore, Houston, Texas (over 1100 cars in his collection), Thomas Monahan (Domino's Pizza),Robert Pass (Passport Transportation), Dean V. Kruse (Kruse International), Blackhawk Museum, James Leake of Tulsa, Oklahoma, William Harrah,Reno,Nevada (deceased) and many, many more.

Thanks and good luck!
